Student Worker Help Guide: Tablet Procedures

Checking in tablets

When tablets are checked in, give them to a supervisor so that they can be cleaned before going back in the cart.

Samsung TabA Procedures for checkout/check-in

Each TabA is equipped with 2 accounts—an Administrative account, “CBC Library” and a patron account, “Story TabA-[tablet #],” so that library patrons can access all of the tablet’s features/apps/functions freely.

To switch from the Administrative account to the patron account—

o   Swipe down from the top of the screen.

o   A menu should appear.

o   At the top right-hand corner of the menu, a small icon with a face should appear. Select that icon.

o   This icon will take you to a selection of account icons; and you will be able to float between user accounts.

o   To turn on the Library’s account, you will need to select the account and enter the PIN #: 2034.

o   The user account has no pin #, and its background is the Circulation Loan Policy.

o   The TabA should be set to the user account before being checked out!

Check out procedure

Should anyone have questions about the Library’s tablet check-out procedure, it is available to read as a wallpaper on the tablets, themselves.

It is also available here:

Loan period = 30 days

Grace period = 15 days beyond due date

A hold on your account in the Business Office will be instituted on the 45th day beyond the initial checkout date (45 days total).

You are responsible for all charges associated with the tablet & its accessories, i.e. cover, charger, cable, should anything be damaged or lost.

If the tablet &/or its accessories become stolen while in your possession, you are responsible for filing a police report & bringing the police report # to Story Library to waive a hold on your account.

Tablets cannot be renewed.

If you cannot return the tablet & its accessories within the loan/grace period, please contact Story Libray at library@cbc.edu.
