Does the library have lab manuals on reserve?
The library does not have consumables or copies of consumables on reserve. Consumables include workbooks, lab manuals, access codes, or any other materials that are designed for a single user.
"There shall be no copying of or from works intended to be 'consumable' in the course of study or of teaching. These include workbooks, exercises, standardized tests and test booklets and answer sheets and like consumable material."
Textbook Reserve
Story Library offers a Textbook Reserve service to provide limited, library-use-only access to textbooks. There are certain occasions when students may need access to textbooks in the library:
Making some textbooks available on reserve helps students with these kinds of circumstances while still ensuring that they are available to all students and not checked out by one student who uses it the whole semester. The purpose of this collection is to promote student success in the classroom.
How do I check out a Textbook Reserve item?
To see if we have the textbook you are looking for, search the library catalog from our home page. You may search by title, ISBN, course name, or course number. If the shelf location says “Textbook Reserve,” it will be located at the information desk. You may ask a library assistant at the information desk to assist you with finding the book. The library assistant will check the book out to you and hold your student ID until you return the book.
Should I still purchase my textbooks?
Story Library carries a limited number of textbooks for a select number of classes. We do not own textbooks for all classes offered at CBC. The items we have on textbook reserve are available as a service, not a replacement for purchasing or renting books for your classes. When a limited number of textbooks are made available, it is common for some students not to have access to textbooks when they need them most. The library supports the campus value that students are responsible for purchasing their textbooks and other required texts.
